James Hober

James Hober holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Cornell University, studied film scoring at UCLA Extension and holds an AA degree in Computer Science from Santa Monica College. He played in the bands Red House, Better Music Thru Science, Paradise Drive, and Evidence, and with performers Little Anthony and Freddy Cannon. James Hober’s songs have aired on radio and TV stations, such as WICB-FM, WVBR-FM, KLOS-FM, KROQ-FM, and KCET-TV.

He recorded and released a CD of his own songs, entitled Haiku Rumors. He has authored a detailed online book explaining Ted Greene’s V-System, an advanced jazz guitar chord system. He currently plays with and creates arrangements for the Ridgewood classical guitar trio. From time to time, he plays for weddings, parties, etc. A composer as well as a performer, James Hober has written for various instruments, ensembles, and orchestra. Of particular note are his solo classical guitar compositions.

He has extensive teaching experience, having taught guitar privately and at the Los Angeles Music and Art School for over 35 years. A number of his students have won awards in local and regional competitions. Some have continued their studies at the Musicians Institute, Berklee College of Music, and USC College of Music.
