Matthew De LA Torre

Matthew De La Torre is a saxophonist, and woodwind doubler proficient in classical, jazz, and Latin styles. Matthew has been with LAMusArt for 22 years as both a student and teacher, most recently studying with Dr. Issac Lopez. Currently pursuing a bachelors degree in music education as well as a California teaching credential at California State University Los Angeles, where Matthew was made the recipient of the 2024-2025 Ella Fitzgerald Jazz award and scholarship. Matthew is currently studying with world renowned classical saxophonist Harvey Pittel and is currently an active member of two professional ensembles, The Wiseguys Big Band Machine and the saxophone quartet Libre. He has performed at several venues, among them the Anaheim House of Blues and the Cicada Club. Matthew also works with the Montebello Unified School District where he has been recognized by the PTA and received the PTA Honorary Service Award. He currently serves as a woodwind coach for Huntington Park High School and volunteers with Montebello Unified music programs.
