Suvai Gunasekaran

Suvai Gunasekaran is an Assistant Professor at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. She earned her Ph.D. from Northwestern University and AB/SM from Harvard University and has extensive experience in biomedical research. Beyond her professional work, Suvai has a long history of leadership in nonprofit and volunteer organizations. She serves as the Director of Community Engagement at Surge for Water, leading efforts to provide clean water access globally. She also has served as President with UN Women USA Chicago Chapter, where she worked on gender equity initiatives.

A passionate supporter of the arts, Suvai enjoys exploring creativity through photography, wheel pottery, and watercolor painting. Her love for artistic expression aligns with her commitment to fostering accessible arts education. Through being a member of the YPAB of LAMusArt, she hopes to help empower young artists to develop their talents and find their creative voice.
