Jade Cagalawan
Jade received her BA in Theatre from Cal Poly Pomona, her Master of Fine Arts in Stage Management from the University of Nevada Las Vegas, and is finishing out her Master of Arts in Education from Cal State Los Angeles. In addition to serving as the Grant Writer for LAMusArt, she is also the Arts Education Director for East West Players and an Adjunct Lecturer for Cal Poly Pomona’s Department of Theatre & New Dance. Her passion lies in equitable arts education for students of color and introducing it as an alternative tool for Social Emotional Learning and Development. She's spoken about equity and diversity in the field for panels at major events such as Anime Expo in 2023, and at various colleges like Cal Poly Pomona, USC, and Loyola Marymount University. She has also served as Co-Chair of the Development Committee for Emerging Arts Leaders in 2019, was on the Advisory Board for Long Beach City College's Library Sciences program from 2020-2023, and as a grant panelist for CAC and TNP. Before working in Education, she was the Production Manager for Cal Poly Pomona from 2016-2019 and worked freelance in production in various areas - AEA Stage Manager, Company Manager, and Producer. In her spare time, she volunteers with the grassroots organization Gabriela South Bay serving on their Finance Committee.
