Camp MusArt - Summer 2021
Camp MusArt is LAMusArt’s five-week, summer intensive musical theatre program that offers students a safe, unique, and immersive experience provided through daily lessons in music, art, dance and drama.
Any student between the ages of 7 to 15 is eligible to enroll and participation is limited to 56 students. During the five-week period, students work together with their Teaching Artists and explore their creativity to stage and produce a full-length musical performance.
Students do not need to have any previous experience in the arts to participate. Many of our students have never been onstage before, nor integrated multiple arts disciplines into one performance. Through this experience, we strive to inspire students creatively and to challenge them to move beyond their comfort zones to demonstrate their talents, bravery, and willingness to learn.
Camp MusArt is held Mondays through Fridays from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm and features one field-trip to a professional performance of a musical at Musical Theatre West.
The program culminates with a live, ticketed performance open to parents, family, friends, and community members.

About The Music Man Jr.
Coming back to Broadway this year featuring Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster, The Music Man Jr. is based on Meredith Willson’s six-time-Tony-Award-winning musical comedy and features some of musical theatre’s most iconic songs and a story filled with wit, warmth and good old-fashioned romance. The Music Man JR. is family entertainment at its best — a bold, brassy show that will have the whole town atwitter!
Master showman Harold Hill is in town and he’s got “seventy-six trombones” in tow. Can upright, uptight Marian, the town librarian, resist his powerful allure? The story follows fast-talking traveling salesman, Harold Hill, as he cons the people of River City, Iowa, into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys’ band he vows to organize. The catch? He doesn’t know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian, whose belief in Harold’s power just might help him succeed in the end in spite of himself.
